Biography

Carlos del Río studied graphic design at the Universidad Iberoamericana, with an illustration subsystem in 1997. He is self-taught in many of the disciplines he dominates related to graphic representation and has specialized in watercolor.

Carlos del Río studied graphic design at the Universidad Iberoamericana, with an illustration subsystem in 1997. He is self-taught in many of the disciplines he dominates related to graphic representation and has specialized in watercolor. Recently he has presented a new style, combining techniques of ink achuring and watercolor paints: Stained Glass Watercolor.

ARTISTIC STATEMENT:

“When I approach an empty canvas, I leave behind all self-awareness, logical rules, and established patterns. I exchange reality for the involuntary and autonomous movements of my hand holding the brush. An emotion begins to arise and I only understand what it means when I have finished painting. If another observer identifies it, then my hands will have achieved their goal. As I explained to the authorities, I am not to blame for that. The insurance company is still debating it.”
